How OpusClip turned a flood of sign-ups into a scored, routed pipeline

How OpusClip's growth team started knowing which sign-ups were real buyers, and got them to an AE while they were still interested.

The situation

OpusClip sells to creators and to companies, and most of its inbound arrives the PLG way: a sign-up, often from a personal Gmail address. When we started, none of those Gmail sign-ups were being matched to the company behind them, so product usage couldn't be read at the account level.

Routing ran from Webflow to Zapier to HubSpot to Zapier to Clay and back. A high-fit lead waited about 20 hours between submitting the form and booking a demo, and leads in the middle of the score range converted at 4.28%.

Astra is our secret weapon when it comes to GTM.

What we built

We rebuilt inbound as one scoring and routing system. Every lead is enriched with phone, email, YouTube channel data, revenue and LinkedIn, then scored 90% on fit and 10% on engagement. Leads under 20 are disqualified automatically, leads from 20 to 70 get an automated qualification step, and leads above 70 go straight into a sequence with an AE's calendar. Tier 1 target accounts route instantly, and the redundant Zapier hops moved into Clay and HubSpot workflows.

For the gray zone between 20 and 70, a Clay workflow reads company signals, creator signals and product usage, so an enterprise-looking lead on a personal email isn't treated like a hobbyist. It was tested against historic data before it went to production. Alongside it, a de-anonymization workflow resolves Gmail sign-ups back to their companies.

We added an AI voice agent, built on Vapi, that qualifies inbound leads by phone before a meeting is booked, and moved phone collection to sign-up. Then we mapped OpusClip's market, cleaned up its top accounts in the CRM, and took on outbound execution, consulting with the team on how to run it as the system grew.

The results

The build

One scoring and routing system

Enrichment, a 90/10 fit-and-engagement score and three routing paths, with the gray zone handled by a decision tree tested on historic data before launch.

The voice agent

~90% valid mobile numbers

Phone collection moved to sign-up returned almost no virtual or landline numbers, and the Vapi agent qualifies leads by phone before they reach an AE.

Outbound on a clean foundation

With inbound scored and routed, a mapped market and a cleaned-up CRM, Jorge took over outbound execution, and results climbed once he did.

The Vapi actually worked way better than I expected. I tried getting around it multiple times to talk to a human or book a meeting before I gave qualification info, and it handled my objections well.
