Leland
How Leland reached enterprise training buyers by anchoring every email to something real about that buyer, and found the message that worked by testing 127 versions of it.
The situation
Leland sells AI training and professional coaching into the enterprise. The business was working, but almost every deal arrived the same way: a referral, or someone who already knew the brand from the coaching marketplace. That is a good problem until you need the number to grow on a schedule.
The buyers they needed were L&D and enablement leaders, HR and People teams, and the executives who own an AI rollout. None of them were coming inbound, and there was no repeatable way to reach them. Enterprise training budgets also move slowly, so every month without a top-of-funnel motion was a month pushed out of the following quarter.
What we built
We built the outbound motion around one rule: no email goes out unless it is anchored to something real and verifiable about that specific buyer. Not a persona. Not a job title. Something that buyer or their company had actually done.
Then we tested that rule instead of assuming it. Over three months we ran 29 campaigns across 13 angles, with 127 versions of the copy across 72 sequence steps, sending 83,740 emails to more than 35,000 contacts. Every send was a live test with a number attached to it.
The trigger-anchored campaigns won, and they won by a wide margin over the same offer sent to a job title. We read the numbers every week and moved volume onto whatever was working.
By the end, Leland had a short list of angles that reliably reached the people they wanted to talk to. That is where the pipeline came from.
The results
First weeks
The referral-only ceiling broke
Trigger-based outreach produced qualified conversations with enterprise buyers who had never heard of Leland, ending the reliance on referrals alone.
Month 3
$300K from a single motion
One outreach motion carried $300K of the pipeline on its own, including $100K+ in the energy sector and six separate opportunities in the $20K to $50K range.
Ongoing
$1.05M in qualified pipeline
70 companies in active conversation. Enterprise cycles kept maturing through scoping and procurement past the end of the engagement window.
